DRESS CODE POLICY
Paul Quinn College is serious about the success of its students. In order to enhance students' career preparation, the College instituted a campus-wide dress code to ensure that students are "career-ready" at all times.
All students are required to be business casual attire between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday morning (for Chapel/College Assembly) or whenever they are in class. Students who take night classes must adhere to the dress code policy. Students enrolled in the physical education course should dress according to the professor's instructions.
On Friday’s, students may wear PQC apparel or the PQC purple wristband with jeans on AFTER Chapel/College Assembly. Wearing jeans on Friday with no PQC apparel is a dress code violation.
The following are forbidden inside campus buildings AT ALL TIMES:
- "Do-rags" or "skull caps"
Do-rags are strictly forbidden in public areas which means a student is not to be seen anywhere on campus (inside or outside) with a do-rag on his or her head. This extends to the common areas of the residence halls. Women are permitted to wear scarves inside the residence halls. Any student found to be in violation of this guideline will be subject to disciplinary action per the rules of the dress code.
Listed below are examples of attire considered inappropriate for public display (any location on the campus or at College-sponsored off-campus events):
- Sheer garments without proper undergarments to obscure their transparency
- Micro-mini dresses that do not cover enough of the thighs while standing or sitting
- Midriff blouses
- Jeans, Shorts, and Sweatshirts
- Sneakers or athletic shoes
- Sagging pants
- Shirts with profanity/indecent messages displayed
- Hair Rollers; bedroom slippers
- Halter tops and dresses without a jacket, shrug or t-shirt to cover upper body area
- No display of underwear
Men are not to wear do-rags, hats, caps, form fitting shorts, or boxing shorts without proper undergarments in public buildings or events. Appropriate attention should be given to personal cleanliness and good grooming, including hair. Students are to present a clean, neat and orderly appearance representative of the College’s mission and values. Students who violate the College's dress code policy are subject to a fine of $200 per violation.
Every student who attends Paul Quinn College must sign the Dress Code Agreement Form. Click the link below to access the form, print, and sign it.
